| | Kilsyth AFC
Kilsyth Amateurs Football Club was established in 1962 by Eddie Scullion (Snr)under the name of Kilsyth St. Pats. This name arose as a requirement of playing at their current home of Kilsyth Sportsfield which, at the time, was owned by the local Catholic Church. After a number of years it was decided, after meeting with the Parish Priest, that it would be best to change the name to Kilsyth Amateurs F.C. so that they became synonymous with the Town as a whole. Kilsyth joined the Stirling & District 3rd division in their inaugral season and after a few years worked their way up to the Premier League were they played for roughly 32 years winning numerous League and Cup titles culminating in them being undefeated in winning the league, winning the Mathieson trophy and also the League cup in 1996-97 season. Due to this achievement Kilsyth were asked, as a team, to represent the Stirling & District select team. The team has strong links with St. Patricks under 21's who play in the Glasgow league and have saw many players make the step up to both Junior and Senior level. Around 2000 it was decided that a new challenge was needed and so Kilsyth moved on to the Central Scottish AFL were they now play. In their first season in this league they were promoted to the Premier League and in their third they were crowned Premier League Champions (2003/04). In the same season they reached the last 16 of the Scottish Cup and in season 2005/2006 they reached the quarter finals of the Scottish which is, to date, a club best. | |
