1st & 2nd Round Draws for The Fosters Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup

The first and second round draws for the Foster’s Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup were made on Wednesday 20 August at Hampden Park by Doug Scott, Marketing Manager (North) for Scottish & Newcastle.  Doug Scott commented: “Scottish & Newcastle has a long established relationship with amateur football in Scotland and I am delighted to extend our partnership to include the new Foster’s Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup and the Foster’s Sunday Trophy. I have been greatly impressed with the number of clubs entering these competitions from communities all over Scotland. As such, this is a great opportunity for us to build our Foster’s brand at a local level.  On behalf of Foster’s lager, I wish the SAFA continued success in its centenary season and beyond.”Left to right: Hugh Knapp (SAFA National Secretary), George Watson (SAFA Match Secretary for the Scottish Amateur Cup), George Dingwall (SAFA President Elect), Doug Scott (S&N Marketing Manager North), Mary Jardine (SAFA Adminstration). Angus Mackay, Honorary President of the SAFA, commented: “In this centenary season, the SAFA is delighted that a remarkable 598 teams entered the Foster’s Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup to make it the largest football competition in Scotland and a truly national competition with entries coming from all over Scotland including 6 team entries from the Highland & Islands.” Highlights of this draw include the following matches;The holders of the Scottish Amateur Cup, Eddlewood AFC from Hamilton, will start their defence of the cup with a tight local derby against Motherwell Bridgeworks AFC.Other ties of note in the West section are strong contests between amateur giants Drumchapel United AFC v Bannockburn, Viewfield Rovers AFC v Pollok AFC and a local derby in Bishopbriggs between Glasgow Harp AFC and St Mungos AFC.The East Section has a Fife derby between Rosyth Civil Service AFC and Lumphinnans United AFC with another challenging tie being The Spartans AFC (Central Scottish AFL)  v Bluebells AFC from Stirling & District AFA.In the North of Tay Section the all polish side FC Polonia received a bye in the first round and will face an away trip to either Roselea AFC or Fairfield AFC in the second round. Another tie of note is the Perthshire derby Almondvale AFC v Vale of Atholl AFCThe draw for the North of Scotland Section sees Kintore AFC from Aberdeenshire facing a trip to Skye to play Skeabost AFC with Portree AFC from Skye going in the opposite direction to play ARI Thistle AFC from Aberdeen.Cammachmore AFC or Glendale Youth AFC will face a long journey to north-west Sutherland to play Tongue AFC  while Durness AFC, Lochinver AFC and Hallkirk AFC from north west Sutherland all travelling south to Aberdeen to play Robert Gordon University AFC, Lads Club AFC and Trophies International AFC respectively.The draw for the third round of the Foster’s Centenary Scottish Amateur Cup will take place on Monday 20 October, venue to be confirmed.
