Glasgow 2014 Ltd and Culture and Sport Glasgow has today launched a search for a creative lead to deliver the Delhi 2010 - Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Flag Handover Ceremony.

Search is on for creative talent to shape the Delhi 2010 - Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Flag Handover Ceremony 

Glasgow 2014, the Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow  has launched a search to find the best creative talent to deliver a breathtaking vision of both city and nation at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in Delhi. 

On Thursday 14th October 2010 hundreds of millions of television viewers around the world, will be treated to an introduction to Glasgow and Scotland through a feast of creativity and talent as the city formally receives the Commonwealth Games flag from India. Glasgow 2014 today launched the search for the Creative Lead who will propose the concept, which will inspire those watching events in Delhi in 2010. 

John Scott, the Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014, said: “This is a unique opportunity for the very best in the creative industries to help to promote Glasgow and Scotland to the Commonwealth and world. We’re proud of Glasgow’s strengths and its rich cultural, industrial and sporting legacy – and now is the time to celebrate and showcase the city’s transformation into a modern, vibrant and stylish destination. 

“At the Handover Ceremony in Delhi, the world will turn its attention to Glasgow and Scotland – and we want to ensure that the very best talent is at the forefront of promoting city, nation and the Games. “It is through their vision and direction that we will set the tone for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.” 

The Creative Lead will have knowledge and experience of delivering arts, cultural and creative programmes in the UK and internationally. The entire copyright of the creative concept will be assigned to Glasgow 2014 Ltd.  Tenders are invited from individuals, companies and consortia from creative, cultural, arts, production, programming, advertising and events backgrounds.      

Notes: The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will be the biggest multi-sports event that Scotland has ever hosted, bringing over 6,000 athletes and officials from 71 countries to the city to compete in 17 different sports in 13 venues over 11 days between 23rd July and 3rd August 2014. With a budget of £373 million (at April 2007 prices) including public investment of £298m the Commonwealth Games are expected to bring significant sporting, economic and social benefits to Glasgow and Scotland. For full details on the tendering process and deadlines for completion, visit www.glasgow.bravosolution.co.uk 

Expressions of interest must be received by 16 July. Invitations to tender will be sent to selected suppliers on 27 July. A supplier day surgery will be held on 3 August, before tender submissions close on 26 August. Proposal presentations will be made on 2 September before the winning tender is announced.
