The blunt truth regarding help for strapped minor-grade clubs
Added On:11/11/2008

This is a story relating to the funds that Amateur Clubs submitted for some months ago;

We'd already applied to this fund back in August when the SFA first highlighted the possibility. We were asked to submit an application on an A4 sheet of paper which I did. We applied for funds to purchase a storage container which we wished to site in Pilrig Park. This would have allowed us to access our coaching equipment during school closures and especially during Summer months and school holidays'. At present if we wish to hire the school outwith normal school hours we are levied a charge of £23.95 per hour. This is the regular Sunday let charge per hour. A key element of the application was the positioning of the container would have allowed us to re-visit our plans to develop girls sections. Girls sections would have taken place during the Spring and Summer months and we would have required access to all our equipment. The enclosed container would also have allowed us to 'store' the girls clothes during coaching sessions. After applying, I heard nothing more until a trio of emails arrived from various SFA, Council and Sport sources. The criteria for applying has changed significantly and has been 'beefed' up to such an extent that its hardly worth re-applying. I've studied the application information and guidelines data and there are too many hurdles to jump for the sake of a £4000 container I'm afraid. Regards, Bryan Maughan.
